In 1974, a young developer named Harold Christ saw the incredible beauty of the Superstition Mountains and decided to build a city that would take advantage of these incredible surroundings. Mr. Christ began to assemble the 3300 acres that would become Gold Canyon. There was one problem: No road extended from the East Valley of metro Phoenix, nor was there a road from US 60 into the project. Mr. Christ simply viewed these as challenges to be overcome. Spurred by Gold Canyon and subsequent developments, the local and state governments, in collaboration with Harold and other real estate professionals, developed the infrastructure to meet the needs of the entire East Valley. Today, Gold Canyon is home to the finest 36-hole public golf course in Arizona, a destination resort, and nearly 12,000 residents. The master plan includes high density single family units, large estate homes. Vision, perseverance, patience, and hard work—the Pentad team has embodied these qualities for over 35 years.
